I’ll admit it: I’m an “indie” blogger who is totally obsessed with, um…um…
Ok, enough with the suspense, you’ve already guessed the punchline from the title.
I lurve Sara Bareilles.
Yes, I know, there’s really nothing too embarrassing about liking “Love Song.” Even my oh-so-musically-kewl friends like to, well, pretend that that song is by Feist so they can enjoy it guilt-free? (“Umbrella”: also by Feist.) Hey – it doesn’t say much for Sara, but it’s a nice compliment to the song!
BUT diving fearlessly into the rest of her album? “Her” being someone who has played on the Today Show, is no stranger to the top of the iTunes charts, and gets regular facetime on MTV/VH1? Please. Even her snazzy myspace page screams record label corruption.
I’m straying from my roots, and I don’t like it one bit!
However, she does have a good voice, and writes her own songs, and OH MY GOD I think everyone knows by now that “Love Song” was written as a sassy retort to an overbearing label (ahem, Epic) so it’s not like I’m suddenly a big fan of Miley Cyrus.
Well, now that the secret’s out, I might as well share one of her already-overplayed songs with you:
mp3: “Fairytale” – Sara Bareilles
Enjoy!
